Getting Married at Reid Memorial

Dixon Charlene3bOnly church members and their children are eligible to hold a marriage ceremony in the Reid Memorial sanctuary (seats 400) or chapel (seats 30). New members must be active in the church’s work and worship for at least six months before the day of their wedding ceremony. The Session may grant exceptions to this rule in extraordinary circumstances.

Weddings may also be celebrated in the Alan Fuqua Center upon approval by the business administrator and depending upon the availability of the building.

Return your completed application form to the administrative assistant to the business administrator. Your wedding date cannot be reserved on the church calendar until the completed application form is received.

Guidelines for scheduling dates

Dixon Charlene 001For many reasons, we do not recommend scheduling a wedding ceremony on or during:

  • Sundays
  • Major holidays or holiday weekends
  • Masters golf tournament week
  • Holy Week (Palm Sunday through Easter Sunday)
  • Choir Recognition Sunday weekend (usually in May or June) Month of December


People with whom you need to communicate


The Wedding Date Application Form will explain to you that one of the current Reid Memorial ministers must assume primary responsibility for all wedding services held in the Reid Memorial sanctuary or chapel. Other clergy may participate in the service with approval of the presiding minister, provided that the clergy person is a family member of the bridal couple or is the current pastor of either the bride or groom who is not a member of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church. Please download and a Wedding Application Form prior to meeting with the minister. The minister will normally schedule three premarital counseling sessions with the couple.

The Reid Memorial wedding coordinator

Our church wedding coordinator will contact you within 15 days after you have confirmed the availability of the minister, completed and returned your application form to the business administrator and the date has been scheduled on the church calendar. Our coordinator will assist you through the remainder of the process with any matters pertaining to Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church facilities, use of equipment, church personnel, decorum, etc.
