Prayer shawl ministry

prayer shawl 001Develop friendships, catch up on all the news and enjoy spending time with ladies who meet in the Reid library the second Tuesday of each month, 11 a.m.-noon, knitting or crocheting shawls for people who are going through difficult times in their lives, such as illness or loss of a loved one.

Each shawl recipient is prayed for during the knitting process, and before they are presented. The shawls are a tangible reminder to each hurting person that they have been covered in God's love through prayer, comfort, and compassion.

Our mission is to...

  • be a praying ministry for those who are receiving the shawls and to deepen our own prayer life and relationship with God
  • continue to hold each other and those in need of comfort, in prayer
  • reach out and touch those in need of comfort in our congregation and community with a tangible symbol of God's love

Contact Reid member Pam Lien for more information about this outreach opportunity or to request a prayer shawl.

God comforts us in all our troubles, so that we in turn may be able to comfort others in their troubles and to share with them the consolation we ourselves receive from God. (2 Corinthians 1:4)
