Hearts for Heroes

hearts for heroes art 000Soldiers need our prayers and support — you can help. The life of a U.S. armed forces service man or woman entails sacrifice. Hearts for Heroes, a recently activated missions initiative of Reid Memorial, can always use helping hands with special outreach opportunity projects. Projects vary in scope and mission. Short term or long term opportunities exist.

Fort Gordon; 202nd Military Intelligence Battalion

  • Welcome soldiers home: donate baked goods, prepare goody bags, if feasible arrive at Ft. Gordon to greet them
  • Help host Halloween Party for the children: prepare bags and assist with games
  • Help host Christmas Party: wrap presents for the children, provide a Santa Claus
  • Help bag groceries at Commissary for their fundraiser

Fisher House

  • Home away from home for families of injured soldiers
  • Prepare/donate meals quarterly for families
  • Donate cake and ice cream for family birthday celebrations quarterly

Charlie Norwood Medical Center

Christmas Party held in the Veterans Administration gym, second week in December

  • Help serve the meal Escort veterans to the gym from their units
  • Hand out beverages
  • Assist veterans Bingo Party held in the Veterans Administration gym in the spring
  • Donate gifts for winners Bingo caller
  • Escort veterans to the gym
  • Set out food Serve beverages
  • Assist veterans when appropriate
