Music Ministry
Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
– Psalm 95:1
Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church has been blessed by a long and glorious tradition of music, with opportunities for people of all ages, interests, and abilities. The music ministry at Reid Memorial is a place for you to minister to the congregation and glorifying God through music.
People from different backgrounds, with varying degrees of music training and skill, come together to praise God through music and through community.
Our choirs support the congregation in singing hymns, responses, and other parts of the sung liturgy. The focus is on anthems that enhance the scriptural themes, and musical leadership that helps create a cohesive worship experience. Assisting to lead the music in Sunday worship is a beautiful way to serve with the gifts that God gives.
Whether you’re an accomplished musician or are simply interested in “exploring” your gifts, we invite you to consider joining us. With questions about Reid Memorial’s musical offerings, contact Organist/Choirmaster Wayne Lord at wlord@reidchurchaugusta.org

CHOIRS
Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir is the principal choir of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church, leading in worship each Sunday (September through June). The choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings (7PM to 8:30PM) under the direction of Dr. Wayne Lord. Singers of high school age through adulthood are welcome to sing in the choir. If you are interested in joining the Chancel Choir, you are invited to attend rehearsals before making a commitment; also, you can meet privately with Dr. Lord for more information. Dr. Lord is actively seeking alto, tenor, and bass voices to join the choir this fall.
Master’s Ringers
The Master’s Ringers Handbell Choir is open to high school students through adults. Music reading ability is needed. If you play or played an instrument in school, you are the perfect person for playing handbells. The choir rehearses on Monday evenings from 6PM to 7:30PM and plays in worship regularly. Each year the ringers have the opportunity to participate in a handbell retreat at Lutheridge in Arden, NC. Dr. Wayne Lord conducts The Master’s Ringers.
The Kirkin’ Choir
The Kirkin’ Choir provides children in grades three, four, and five an introduction to choral music with a focus on building music reading skills and developing good singing habits. At rehearsals the children learn a Hymn of the Month and prepare short introits and anthems to sing in worship. Dr. Wayne Lord teaches the Kirkin’ Choir on Sunday afternoons from 4:30PM to 5:00PM (September through April). Volunteers (adult) are needed to assist Dr. Lord.
The Young Musicians
The Young Musicians provides children in grades one and two with a variety of music activities. Rhythm games and songs help establish two fundamental skills for singing: matching pitch and keeping a steady beat. The Young Musicians sing in worship two to three times during the school year (September through April). Mrs. Jenny Davison teaches the children on Sunday mornings following the Children’s Moment in worship. Volunteers (high school or adult) to assist Mrs. Davison are needed.
