Reid Memorial Presbterian Church Augusta Ga Palm SundayOur mission and vision

Mission statement

Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church (USA) exists to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ through word and deed; to provide lifelong nurture, support and encouragement for the Christian life; to equip and enable each other for Christian ministry; and to exercise faith through caring service to others in Christ's name.

We envision a church where:

Happy children play and grow in God's love, just as the children whom Jesus welcomed to himself. (Matthew 19:13-15)

Enthusiastic young people are challenged to seek first the kingdom of God and are guided in discipleship, just as the young men that Jesus called on the shores of Galilee. (Matthew 4:18-22)

Fulfilled adults, both working and retired, are called to yield their entire lives as holy sacrifices to God and are equipped for effective ministry in the world. (Romans 12:1-2, Ephesians 4:11-12)

Families are strengthened in their commitments so that all members of these families are blessed. (Ephesians 5:21)

Single people are so fully incorporated in the church family that, like Jesus and St. Paul before them, they consider their singleness to be a divine calling, which offers blessings for others, as well as for themselves. (I Corinthians 7:8)

Visitors to our church comment on the joy of our worship, the love that we have for each other and the hospitality that we extend to them. (Phillippians 4:4, I John 4:7, Romans 12:13b)

Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church Augusta Ga family campWe face the great challenges and struggles of life, find in our Christian faith not only the power and hope to meet the test, but to grow in wisdom and maturity, "until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ." (Ephesians 4:13)

We also envision a church:

Eager to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with all people in all nations, and which supports this commitment through personal witness, prayer and offerings. (Matthew 28:18-20)

Demonstrating care for others through many members' participation in missions to our city and beyond our city and which generously shares its wealth to relieve human suffering throughout the world. (Luke 10:25-37)

Sharing God's passion that there be peace on earth and that "justice roll down like waters," and which is an advocate for God's peace and justice in Augusta and throughout the world. (Zechariah 9:9-10, Amos 5:24)

In which every member considers him or herself to be a minister, called by Christ to serve him and glorify him in all of life, "forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead; pressing on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus." (Phillippians 3:13-14)
